The Challenge From Beyond

As part of its third anniversary issue in September 1935, Fantasy Magazine asked five prominent science fiction authors (Stanley G. Weinbaum, Donald Wandrei, Edward E. Smith, Harl Vincent and Murray Leinster) and five prominent weird fiction authors (C.L. Moore, A. Merritt, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard and Frank Belknap Long) to write two tales, both written around the title "The Challenge From Beyond". This chapbook is written in the round, with one author starting the story and another taking it up, and so on. It contains both versions of the story, taken directly from the pages of Fantasy Magazine.

Ghor Kin-Slayer

Seventeen leading fantasy authors...

One epic novel of heroic fantasy...

Only Robert E. Howard could have begun it...left by his parents to die, and subsequently raised by wolves, Ghor becomes the mightiest warrior of his time, driven by a boundless desire to revenge his abandonment.

Decades later, this unfinished tale by the creator of Conan sees completion by sixteen of the top fantasy authors of our time, each bringing with them their own unique style and vision to the adventures of Ghor, Kin-Slayer. The reader will not only be guided through a rousing adventure of heroic fantasy, but discover intriguing elements of weird fiction, with even a touch of H.P. Lovecraft's "Cthulhu Mythos" thrown in for good measure.

Available here for the first time in its complete form, Ghor, Kin-Slayer is the rare opportunity to read a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration between Robert E. Howard and the finest fantasy authors of the past several decades.

- Thomas F. Monteleone in Horrorstruck

"Overweight, hair below his collar, glasses low on his nose"
- Tom Geddie in the Dallas Times Herald

The Shadow Over Innsmouth
H.P. Lovecraft

H.P. Lovecraft never achieved a greater atmosphere of insidious decay than in

"The Shadow Over Innsmouth"

One can almost smell the overwhelming stench of fish, see the physical anomalies of the inhabitants, and perceive the century-long dilapidation of an entire town in the story's evocative prose. And once again he has produced a narrative that progresses from first word to last without a false note to a cataclysmic conclusion - a conclusion that simultaneously focuses on the pitiable fate of a single human being and hints tantalisingly of the future destruction of the entire race.

For the very first time, this classic Lovecraft story is being presented in a critical edition, edited by S.T. Joshi and David E. Schultz, and featuring extensive footnotes, and exhaustive introduction, textual notes, as well as Lovecraft's original notes and discarded draft to "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". Rounding out this special edition are Jason Eckhardt's fantastic illustrations, created especially for this publication.
